Sa Carrela: Memoriae
Celebratory mapping for the traditional horse race of the Santu Lussurgiu Carnival
Faced with Covid restrictions, the community of Santu Lussurgiu chose to celebrate its “Sa Carrela ‘E Nanti” with a day of events that “tells how we were, how we are and how we will be.”
AM Artist and Kyberteatro, in the persons of Marco Quondamatteo and Ilaria Nina Zedda, took part in the event, producing a series of themed projections set to music by composer Gustavo Gini.
It was an intense piece of work, developed in close contact with the members of the riders’ association Sa Carrela ‘e nanti. It let us get to know the history, emotions and meaning of the race and the carnival of Santu Lussurgiu and translate them into images, sounds and animations that bring back, in an artistic and dreamlike way, the voices, symbols and memories of an event as unique as it is important for the community.
Thanks to the specialised service company CarSalMaz, the projection station could be moved to four different points of the town on the same evening, so people could enjoy the show without creating crowds.
