In a world where art is increasingly consumed through a computer or phone screen and gets lost in the sea of social media, we wanted to go against the grain and bring it back to streets and squares.
Inspired by the popular art of murals, we rediscover the sense of “here and now” by directly involving the audience.
Scripta Volant II (the new version of an earlier project) is our virtual spray can: anyone can colour, paint, write or doodle on a wall, but everything happens within 3 minutes, after which the image fades away.
Knowing that your drawing is destined to disappear within minutes frees you from the anxiety of making something permanent and widely seen, and gives back the pleasure of doing something ephemeral, with no great expectations.
Just grip the spray can and point it at the wall to move the coloured cursor, then press the nozzle to start the jet.
Our “control bin” lets you turn knobs and press buttons to choose the colour, enlarge or shrink the jet, sign the work, erase a wrong stroke and trigger special effects.
Scripta Volant II was presented at the 19th edition of the Cuncambias Festival in San Sperate (Sardinia), organised by our friends at Spazio Antas.
The system was built jointly by AM Artist and &Makers.
